I encourage all of you to listen to this podcast fully so you can have a better knowledge of what will be done with the money you donate during National Guide Month.

You’ll learn how a guide dog is raised, how they learn to help visually impaired people and facts like 1 of 20 people is blind in the United States but only a small percentage of them have the help of a guide dog. If you weren’t sure to donate before, I’m sure you will after you listen Rick talk to Kim Laidlaw from Guide Dogs of the Desert; Shirley, a puppy raiser; and Natalie Malaszenko from PETCO. You will also listen Nicollette & Dick Van Patten’s public service announcement for the campaign. Definitely worth listening.

Remember I have a campaign going on to raise funds for Guide Dog Month in Nicollette’s behalf. If we raise enough money, it will be donated to Natural Balance Pet Food in name of Nicollette. Let’s show the world how generous her fans are! I only ask for $5 for everyone of you, that’s not much but can make a real difference. Sadly, I can’t do it on my own, but if the campaign does not work out, I’m definitely donating myself, which I hope you all do as well.

Here they are, the pictures and video of Nicollette throwing the first pitch at the Dodgers vs Reds game last weekend. And a really good one for what I’ve heard.

Saturday night brings new meaning to Dodger dogs

The event sold out with 500dogs packing the right-field pavilion, having just as much right to sit there since their owners paid $25 per all-you-can-eat ticket for them, too. German shepherds and dachshunds and poodles and shaking Chihuahuas were invited guests for one game.

(…)

Saturday was the first time the Dodgers hosted “Bark in the Park” an event in which fans brought their dogs to the game, provided they had updated records of shots. This was all unbeknownst to that security guard.

The event went off with plenty of barks, licks and accidents on the warning track, but it was quite an event, especially since some of the proceeds were being donated by the Dodgers to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers partnered with Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Pet Foods and Tillman the skateboarding bulldog.

They did the event with the Mets in New York and the Rangers in Texas, too.

“We’re certainly planning on doing it again,” Dodgers spokesman Josh Rawitch said. “Nothing happened that would make us not do it again. It was well-received by fans. It attracted a lot of media. It was a fun story. Enough people said, `I’ve always wanted you guys to do this.”‘

(…)

Nicollette Sheridan, who starred on “Desperate Housewives,” cooed while she fed her dog, Oliver, a Dodger dog. The Dodgers hit four home runs, and Oliver – a 5-year-old Golden retriever – calmly sat in the row behind while Sheridan stood and cheered.

“We should’ve had Bark in the Park at the beginning of the season,” Sheridan said, laughing.

Natural Balance Pet Foods® is proud to once again announce that September is National Guide Dog Month.

Nicollette Sheridan has teamed up with Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance®, Petco® and Independent Pet Stores to help raise $1 Million to Train Guide Dogs for the Visually Impaired.

Did you know that there are 1.3 million blind people in the USA? Every 7 minutes someone in America becomes blind or visually impaired.

Guide Dogs improve the lives of the blind by creating opportunities for life-changing independence, and through community outreach and education programs. Guide Dogs provide safe mobility, loving companionship and the “miracle of independence” to the blind through the use of a guide dog.

All pets bring a special kind of joy to their human companions, but Guide Dogs can really make a difference in a person’s life by providing mobility and independence to someone who cannot see.

100% of proceeds from these National Guide Dog Month activities will be donated to accredited guide dog training facilities across the country, as defined by the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF). Recipients will include:

Guide Dogs for the Blind Inc. (Oregon)
Guide Dogs for the Blind Inc. (California)
Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind
Freedom Guide Dogs for the Blind Inc.
Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation
The Seeing Eye
Guide Dogs of Texas
Guide Dogs of the Desert
The idea of making a joint donation in name of Nicollette to any charity close to her heart has always been on my mind, but I needed to know what charity she was fully collaborating with. Since right now she has partnered with Natural Balance to support different Guide Dogs organizations across the USA, I think this is a great time to do it and show her our support as fans.

So far I only need to know who is willing to participate. Once I know there are enough people interested, I will contact the people in charge to ask how it could be done, as a group of fans and from outside the States. E-mail me to caro@nicollette-sheridan.net or nicollettenetwork@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you when I have all the details to donate.

I know this might be a bad moment for almost everybody (including myself) to give money, but I couldn’t let go this oportunity. I think Nicollette would be happy to know we, as fans, support her and the causes she believes in.

Here’s how you can collaborate in an particular way to the campaign.

Nicollette Sheridan Joins Natural Balance Pet Foods® and Petco For National Guide Dog Month

Nicollette Sheridan joins the cause for guide dogs alongside Natural Balance Pet Foods, PETCO and select pet stores. Customers can donate $1 by purchasing specially marked bags of Natural Balance dog food with Nicollette Sheridan’s picture on them.

Nicollette Sheridan is teaming with Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Pet Foods, PETCO and independent pet stores to raise money and awareness for organizations for guide dogs across the country and to celebrate National Guide Dog Month in September .

“I’ve always loved dogs, and this is a special way to celebrate the unique bond between dogs and their owners,” said Nicollette Sheridan. “It takes over two years and $40,000 to properly train a guide dog. Together, we can help make a difference for this important cause.”

Throughout September, pet parents can visit any of PETCO’s more than 1,000 locations nationwide, as well as many independent pet stores, and buy specially marked bags of Natural Balance dog food with Nicollette Sheridan’s picture on them to donate $1 of the purchase price to participating guide dog schools. PETCO shoppers can also “round up” their purchases at the register to donate the difference to the cause, or donate money at the register, or make donations directly online at http://www.petco.com/.

All proceeds from these National Guide Dog Month activities will be donated to participating guide dog training facilities nationwide. Recipients include:

Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc.
Guide Dogs of the Desert

Here’s a little more information how to collaborate with PETCO and Natural Balance to support Guide Dogs. The idea of making a joint donation in name of Nicollette has been a idea of mine for quite a while, maybe this is the time? What do you think? Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll find out how exactly we can make it.

Nicollette Sheridan is teaming with Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Pet Foods, PETCO and independent pet stores to celebrate National Guide Dog Month in September and raise money and awareness for guide dog organizations across the country.

Throughout September, pet parents can visit any of PETCO’s more than 1,000 locations nationwide, as well as many independent pet stores, and buy specially marked bags of Natural Balance dog food with Nicollette Sheridan’s picture on them, to donate $1 of the purchase price to participating guide dog schools. PETCO shoppers can also “round up” their purchases at the register to donate the difference to the cause, or donate money at the register, or make donations directly online at PETCO.com. All proceeds from these National Guide Dog Month activities will be donated to participating guide dog training facilities nationwide.

“I’ve always loved dogs, and this is a special way to celebrate the unique bond between dogs and their owners” said Nicollette Sheridan. “It takes over two years and $40,000 to properly train a guide dog. Together, we can help make a difference for this important cause.”

Recipients of the funds raised through the program include:

Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc.
Guide Dogs of the Desert
Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, Inc.
Southeastern Guide Dogs
Leader Dogs for the Blind
The Seeing Eye, Inc.
Freedom Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc.
