Judging by her blonde hair and blue eyes you might think Nicollette Sheridan was born on in the sunny California, but truth is she belongs to the rainy England. Born in Worthing, Sussex on November 21 1963, she discovered a passion for ballet as a small child and studied furiously, broadening her love of the arts as a student at the Arts Educational School in London. In addition to the theatre, she nurtured her talents as an avid equestrienne, along with a rigorous thrist for reading and a love of Shakespeare.
Raised in London and LA, Nicollette moved there at the age of 10, but went back to England when she was 15, to Millfield boarding school in Somerset. Moving back to LA again and being courted to explore her talents was a natural progression. Soon she signed with Elite Models and appeared on comercials for Martini Rosso and Flex Revlon conditioner. By February 1984 she graced the cover of Cosmopolitan.
Sheridan debuted on tv in 1984′s Paper Dolls and got her first movie role the next year in Rob Reiner’s The Sure Thing, starring John Cusack and Daphne Zuniga. But was in 1986 when she became a household name portraying the beautiful, powerful and manipulative Paige Matheson on Knots Landing.
This led to a myrad other roles in both made-for-tv movies and the big screen, including those in Noises Off opposite Michael Caine, A Time To Heal with Gary Cole, Indictment: The McMartin Trial with James Woods, The People Next Door opposite Faye Dunaway, Spy Hard opposite Leslie Nielsen, Beverly Hills Ninja with Chris Farley and Chris Rock and Dead Husbands with John Ritter. Along with several guest appearances on tv series like Will & Grace season finale.
On 2004 Nicollette exploded back on the small screen with her Golden Globe-nominated role of Edie Britt, the serial divorcee whose romantic conquests on Desperate Housewives keep the neighborhood buzzing. For this role she was honored in her native England, receiving the 2006 Glamour Women of the Year Award for Best U.S. TV Actress, adding to her back to back 2005-06 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
With an affinity for the animated world, she has brought her English accent to the Disney series The Legend Of Tarzan and was heard as a Russian fly in the feature Fly Me To The Moon with Tim Curry, Kelly Ripa, Christopher Lloyd and Buzz Aldrin. Additionally, Sheridan recently completed voicing the role of Zenna in the Promenade Pictures’ film Noah’s Ark: The New Beginning along with Michael Keaton, Jason Lee, Eliza Dushku, Rob Schneider, Marcia Gay Harden and Sir Ben Kingsley.
Generous with her time, Sheridan has lent her devotion and star presence to philanthropic causes including those focused on cancer, women and children at risk, and natural disaster relief (e.g: Hurricane Katrina), as well as such entities as the Red Cross, Humane Society, Wildlife Waystation (receiving a Congressional Recognition for her service to the community back on 2005), Starkey Hearing Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Walter Reed Hospital.
Having found much success in front of the camera, Nicollette has more recently turned her attention behind the scenes and is developing projects for film and television.
With her 5 years long Desperate Housewives run finished on 2009, Nicollette is using now this time to chill and finally build her much wanted horse ranch as well as developing her own lingerie line.
On 2010 Nicollette was casted on the untitled pilot presentation of Ant Hines and Larry Charles about a British estranged father who comes back to reconnect with her teen star daughter, sadly it wasn’t picked up by CSB. September was a busy month for Nicollette as she was the spokewoman for Natural Balance’s National Guide Dog Month and went to Ireland to film the upcoming Hallmark Channel movie Honeymoon For One.
